Introduction
Note: There are two application windows below. The second application window will only be available in the event funds remain after the first application window. In both application windows applications will be assessed on a first come first served basis, subject to the conditions below. Should requests exceed funding available all applications received after funds are allocated will not be funded and may be resubmitted in a subsequent application window at the discretion of the applicant. York University is making $1M available annually to support research administration and research intensification efforts of employees in the YUFA bargaining unit. At least 75% of the total annual funding of this Fund will be dedicated and available only to employees working in the following Faculties: School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (“AMPD”); the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (“LA&PS”); the Faculty of Education; the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change (“EUC”); Glendon College; and the Schools of Nursing, and Health Policy and Management in the Faculty of Health. The remaining 25% will be distributed to employees working in the remaining Faculties. Funds will be made available to each participating Faculty and School proportionate to their total number of full time YUFA members .
Who is eligible to apply for funding?
This program is available to employees in YUFA who do not have total generic Research Cost Centre balances exceeding $50,000.
Application Window
There will be a maximum of two application windows per year. However, funds will be distributed on a first come first served basis, subject to the dedication of at least 75% of total annual funding to the Faculties/academic units noted above, which may result in only 1 application window in a given year. The dates for the application windows are as follows:
Application Window 1:
Application Window 1 will run from 08:00 am on Monday July 8, 2024 and will close on 07:59 am on Monday July 22, 2024. VPRI will begin to announce results of application review on Monday July 29, 2024.
Applications received before the application window opens will be returned so they can be
resubmitted within the application window.
Application Window 2:
If funds remain available application window 2 will run from 08:00 am on Monday January 6, 2025 and will close on 07:59 am on Monday January 20, 2025. VPRI will begin to announce results of application review on January 27, 2025. Before you apply to the second application window please confirm with your Faculty Research Office or resupprt@yorku.ca to confirm if there are available funds for a second application window

Award Amounts
Applicants may receive awards of up to $5,000 per fiscal year. Applicants will receive notification from VPRI regarding the results of the application review. For more information please contact: David Phipps resupprt@yorku.ca
