York Black Research Seed Grant - Application Form (Winter 2025)

Black early career faculty members and Black post-doctoral fellows and visitors may apply. Only projects with Black researchers as lead applicant are eligible. Applications should be unique to the Black Research Seed Fund and should not duplicate pending or previous funding from another source for the same project. Existing grantees are only eligible to apply once their currently funded projects have been completed. Projects should not be part of a larger externally funded initiative; however, we will accept an application for a new element of an existing externally funded project with sufficient justification.

The deadline to submit your application form is April 21, 2025 at 4:30 pm. All fields with a red * are mandatory fields and need to be filled out in its entirety.

Black Research Seed Fund is not available for current projects with applications to another funding source, work already completed, or "set-up" costs (usually borne by Faculties and Department)

Please provide a coherent budget with justification for the use of the proposed award, as an additional attachment. Funds will normally be available for a 36-month project. The cost centre will be open for 37 months to allow for the processing of expenses incurred up to the end of the 36th month, but no additional expenses will be processed. Funds remaining at the end of the project will be returned to the funder and used to support other projects.
